PROCASTINATION AND POSTERITY: A LOOK AT MAKING TIMELY DECISIONS

It was Abraham Lincoln who said

“Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle “

Then Mark Burnett exclaimed

“If you want to be certain, you should never get married. You should never change jobs. In fact, you might as well just stay home. Because I don’t know anybody who is certain. That need to be certain is just procrastination.”

Procrastination is the antidote to success as this very sting negates what I’d like to call Timely-Necessary-Risk invention.

There are certain times a man may set out to achieve a particular goal and in doing this, he tries to assure himself that it’s going to work just fine but then he starts considering some factors till he finally deludes himself into believing that all the odds must be in place cause that alone will suffice the set goal to get accomplished.

Procrastination makes you believe something good can be achieved at a later time but unfortunately that time never comes .

Some have learnt the hard way that one must never put off till tomorrow what may be done day after tomorrow just as well in a rather unpleasant situation, they find themselves wallowing in self pity and before you say Jack! the quagmire sets in.

For you to achieve anything worthwhile you have to know that the best time to achieve tomorrow’s dreams starts today because a year, 2 years or even 5 years from now, you may wish you had started today.

Turning pro is a mindset. If we are struggling with fear, self-sabotage, procrastination, self-doubt, etc., the problem is, we’re thinking like amateurs. Amateurs don’t show up. Amateurs crap out.

Amateurs let adversity defeat them. The pro thinks differently. He shows up, he does his work, he keeps on truckin’, no matter what.
(Steven Pressfield)

Economists will tell you that Productivity can and will only be achieved by proper research, feasibility study, geometric analysis, market fluctuations and most of all ACTION.

Nothing ever changes unless you decide you want it to change.
I have come to believe that true struggle to achieve a goal can be quite herculean and sometimes make one knackered but just like nature, there’s always light at the end of every tunnel.

One must never be scared to
Venture
Explore
Risk
Test
And try new things because only then are we able to find out things we never knew and experience bliss.

The world really only remembers those who make a difference not those who wish they could have changed the tides in their lives.
So go all out today and reach out for that passion cause he who did a little is better than he did nothing.

It is better to try and fail and keep trying than to sit idly with the bandwagon and cackle at that man who endures blood, sweat and tears in the mud all just to make a mark.

Posterity doesn’t forget.
