Manchester United pulled a surprise yesterday after reaching an agreement with Everton to sign Romelu Lukaku for £79million this summer.
Jose Mourinho’s side ended their interest in Alvaro Morata after Real Madrid refused to reduce their asking price. A development which is said to have angered Morata’s camp.
Core Magazine’s Football Columnist, Tosin Durodola broke the news about Manchester United deal for Romelu Lukaku last night ahead of other media outlets.
Chelsea were thought to have a deal in principle with Romelu Lukaku who mustered 26goals last season, but the Red Devils pulled a surprise following weeks of quiet negotiations.
The Everton Striker will now reunite with former manager, Jose Mourinho who sold him to Everton three years ago. He will replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic who was released by the club following a knee injury that will keep him out till December.
Lukaku, though still on vacation at Los Angeles, will fly into Manchester once personal terms are agreed this week and complete the expected move before United go on Preseason Tour.
The 24-year-old is one of the most prolific Strikers in the Premier league having scored 71 goals in his three seasons at Everton. He was also named in the PFA Team of the Season after a wonderful campaign last season.
Romelu Lukaku will need to hit the ground running with so much creative midfielders like Henrik Mkihtayran, Paul Pogba, Juan Mata and Ander Herrera playing behind him.
