I have confidence in me because I was formed out of love

Out of sentiments and familiarity
My confidence and trust I laid on you
With trust that all I am and will be
All is safe with you
That you are rock enough to hide me
From the stormy waves of challenges
But all was just in my head
It didn’t take a prophet to tell me
That all was wishful thinking
Your words as sharp as blades
Cut through my confidence and trust
Left it all tattered shreds
My flaws and mistakes
You saw all of them as definitions of me
Not my strength or who I could be
Still with my eyes alit with glowing hope
I bared my weakness and fears
Over and over again
Confident that you will be the image
I have in my mind of you
The strength and morale booster
Still again, disappointed and disillusioned
You left me to be
Like a cold wave of reality
It dawned on me, I am me
No one else can ever be me
So why struggle to be another’s definition of me
Why bow to another’s label of me
Why fight daily to maintain an image I’m not
The discovery of who I am, of who you are
Which do not rely on clothes or other labels
Everyone else gave me
Gave me a boost to be free to be me
I have confidence in me
I am who I am, not whom who you say I am
I can only be who I was made to be
Not whom you want to make of me
I learnt to love me so I can lover others
I have confidence in me
Because greater is HE who lives in me
Than every other existing power
I have confidence in me
Because I was formed out of love
Birthed by my creator out love and purpose
I am confident in me because of grace
So with feet as light as air
I walk in absolute knowledge and understanding of me
The discovery of me, who I am, who I can be
I have confidence in me!
