ADETUTU’S CORNER: HYPOCRISY AND PRETENCE

Say to your neighbour,

You might be going through worse things than the world might care to know, but you will get through it

Look at that man of God telling you to brighten one another’s day?
He cried to God to take him throughout the night
The sister over there, still lost in the spirit?
Begged that leader of the Ushering unit not to do it
But he ignored her plea
Just like that little voice in his head that pleas with him not to steal the Big man’s money.
The women’s leader over there
Teaching other women how to raise their children?
Got slapped this morning by her eldest child.
That little boy who refuses to say a prayer has been saying the same prayers for two months now
But his parents are still going to sign the divorce papers.
The first girl to grab your shirt and asks for money to feed
Her paintings are as good as DaVinci’s
Her elder brother?
Sings like a hummingbird
The bus driver that almost runs you over and cusses at you in a croaked voice
Seeming like it was borrowed from someone older
Is a mathematics genius
That counsellor with the fine car and make up on fleek?
She can’t keep her life together
Everyone looking well is probably the sickest at heart.
Welcome to Church.
