General Call For Submissions

WHAT WE NEED WITH ALL SUBMISSIONS
1. A brief biography note in third person (maximum 100 words)
2. A photo of the contributor
3. Make sure that you send your work, biography note and photo as three separate attachments.
File format: doc., docx., and jpg. The text of your work should be in any legible font, preferably Times New Roman or Calibri, 12 point, single spaced.
We expect your work to be original and unpublished, though simultaneous submissions are welcome. It is your responsibility to inform us in time when the work submitted here is accepted somewhere else. Previously published work will not be considered.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: January 31, 2018
Our response period might be between two weeks to three months from the date we receive your work. We are currently unable to send letters of rejection due to the large number of submissions we receive. Please do wait till the dates of final editorial decisions if you need to send us a query regarding your submission.
Up to six poems are accepted per submission, and all forms and subjects are encouraged
There is no minimum number of words but we will most likely publish fiction and non-fiction between 1,000-5,000 words. We accept up to three prose submissions per author as long as the total number of words is less than 7,500. All genres and subjects are welcomed and encouraged.
Please do get in touch with your ideas before you start working on a review. We need reviews on work that is of current relevance. Word limit: between 800 and 2000 words.
Note: Core Magazine’s Literary Journal is published in both PDF and print form. Contributors are not compensated, although a modest honorarium will be awarded to the winner of our Editor’s Choice award each issue.
Submission is free and by submitting your work, you are giving Core Magazine Africa the permission to publish your work. We take first publication rights and exclusive archival rights. The Literary Journal is published tri-annually in March, August, and December.
