There is this popular saying that “one man’s meat is another man’s poison” while some women look for ways to loose weight, others are looking for ways to gain weight.
Although being lean can often be healthy but being underweight can be a concern because it can be due to lack of nutrition.
The tips below can help you gain weight but always remember that you can’t add weight overnight. So be flexible too and wait to see how it works.
REGULAR EATING SCHEDULE
Try eating three meals a day and a snack in between no matter what. According to Nancy Farrell “You should eat six times per day and about every three hours”. Remember to eat snacks that are small enough not to fill you up too much. This will enable you to eat again.
EAT FOODS THAT HAVE A LOT OF CALORIES AND NUTRIENTS TOO
Dieticians call this “calorie- dense“. Some foods under this are Nuts – groundnuts. Dried fruit – banana chips, figs. Fresh, dense fruits – avocado, mangoes. Starchy vegetable – corn, peas, potatoes. Remember don’t avoid other vegetables.
DRINKS! DRINKS! DRINKS!
When you lose appetite in between meals take drinks like fruit juice, ice cream based liquids, milk, yoghurt etc. Remember to drink 30 minutes after a meal.
This might look weird but why not try exercising, especially strength training. You can stimulate your appetite which makes you eat a lot.
TOP IT UP
Give yourself a treat by adding extras to your dishes for more calories like scrambled eggs, cheese, plantain etc
