4 Ways Not to Answer Unwanted Questions without being Rude

Ordinarily, you should always seek to answer fully any questions posed by employees, journalists, customers or colleagues, if you are to be a good communicator.

Rarely, however, you may be faced with a question which is impossible, for whatever reason, for you to answer. In such a case you must be able to avoid humiliation when evading the question.

Here’s a list of ways to avoid directly answering an unwanted question without seeming rude:

1. Come clean and say you do not know the answer.

Followed by:

‘But I’ll find our for you and let you know….’

It’s a very good question. I wonder if any of you can answer it?”

‘But it’s not really relevant….’

‘I’ll get one of my colleagues to find the answer for you and will let you know.’
